# What is Dream Lab Design Sprint ?

We believe 'Form' influences 'Function'. The e-Yantra Dream Lab Design Sprint is a novel competition that provides students an opportunity to design a “cool” space that facilitates innovation and inspires ideas to solve problems using technologies. This space aspires to become a local innovation and entrepreneurship hub for young minds across our country. Apart from dwelling into design thinking , other benefits include:

  • Cash Prizes
  • Opportunity to work with e-Yantra
  • Certificate & Goodies

Let your mind run wild to create a space that energises, inspires ideas and generates exciting conversations to solve problems using technology. Your lab should be a space that you ‘vibe’ with on an individual level and can take ownership of. Your design should be inspired by local culture, monuments, industries, flora, fauna and characterises what's special about the place you inhabit.

# Challenges

Ours is a 4 week Design exercise where, you play the role of designers and ignite the latent artist and creator using the e-Yantra Lab as the canvas upon which to express your "Dream Lab".

For this exercise it is important that you work with the space that is designated as the e-Yantra Lab in your college. If such a space is not allocated in your college, or is not accessible to you at the moment, do not worry. You may select any large enough space near you which has the potential to house your 'Dream Lab'. (For example: A vacant hall, a common shed, a garage space, etc.)

Important: Don’t be too hasty in jumping into the modelling and implementation of the 3D artifacts at the very beginning. It’ll be useful to get the overall design philosophy right and to get the story we wish to tell through our design of the lab. The actual implementation of the concept then out of the requirements we’ve specified.

# Objective of the Challenge

Although ours is a virtual exercise and involves designing a lab as a 3D model in the open source software Blender, we hope that your college authorities will be convinced to permit you to manifest your designs into reality (though that is beyond the scope of this competition).

In case your college has issues with funds, you might even consider fund-raising from local industries, finding suitable sponsors, tapping into alumni funds, etc. - the possibilities are endless, that we leave to your imagination.
